Social media is now mandatory for businesses.
At CSG, we are always trying to keep pace with the evolving social media landscape as it becomes an increasingly valuable tool that we use to not only promote our clients’ businesses, but also our own.
Recently, Twitter rolled out several new updates for 2015 that will allow for marketers to tailor their messaging directly to their target audience(s) and increase the value of their social strategies.
- Video: Users will now be able to record, edit and share videos directly through Twitter via a video-friendly interface, which will allow for marketers to organically share videos from anywhere. No more hassle of having to upload content via third-party vendors (think YouTube, Vimeo and Vine) and then share. As a result, the speed of messaging through the video channel will be dramatically increased.
- Private Tweets: Users will be able to share public content privately through Direct Messaging instead of re-tweeting. This is a bonus for marketers who will now be able to connect with customers and potential customers in a more private and direct manner.
- Timeline Algorithm: Twitter’s current platform often allows for highly relevant Tweets to be buried at the bottom of the feed. Recently, Twitter has hinted at reversing the chronological order of their timeline feed. As a result, marketers will have to be strategic in choosing appropriate hashtags and continue to post and share engagement-worthy content to target their audiences.
Let’s face it, social media is here to stay, and as marketers it is our responsibility to learn to #EMBRACE it and use it to our advantage to stay on top of emerging trends.
